What Our Guests Are Saying …

… about Pavilion Cottage

‘Owners were friendly and obliging. Cottage well and good. Lovely beach and garden. We especially enjoyed the Galloway forest park, such grand countryside to get lost in. The children were always ready to see something new. Peaceful nights and friendly neighbours. We all enjoyed ourselves. Thank you.’ — The Morris family, Wales (August 2010)

‘Thoroughly enjoyed the gardens and the pool. Highly recommend Alex's beef - delicious! Ice cream factory fun. Treasure trail around Wigtown kept the kids happy. Overall weather glorious - good time had by all. Thank you.’ — The Lydford family, Dorset (August 2010)

‘Wonderful holiday in a delightful setting. The dogs enjoyed running across Rigg Bay and our children had a lot of fun on the sandy beach behind the golf course at Monreith. Other highlights; mountain bike trails at Kirroughtree, walking up Cairnsmore of Fleet, the bookshops of Wigtown, Whithorn Story and, further afield, the Mull of Galloway. However, perhaps the best - the swimming pool! Thank you Alex.’ — The Bird family, Oxford (August, 2010)

‘What a perfect holiday for an extended family holiday! Wonderful garden, pool, and beach. Fun trips to Cream o' Galloway, the cocoa bean chocolate factory and Kirkcudbright. Thanks so much for a great holiday (and duck feeding experience).’ — Jones and Bosch-Kennedy families, Edinburgh and Glasgow (July 2010)

‘Fantastic location for peace and tranquility. Enjoyed Bladnoch Distillery, worth a visit, and beautiful walks in Galloway forest!’ — Julia, Nigel & co, Surrey (April 2010)

‘Great beach, fantastic walks. Pete loved Cream o' Galloway. Adults loved the fantastic walks. Rayburn was a challenge! Hot water also for 8 people, but we had a fab time!’ — Janet, Martin & co, Surrey (April, 2010)

‘First snow in 10 years added to beautiful scenery. We all had a marvellous break in the Borrowers' Cottage!’ — Mick and Margaret, Derbyshire (Christmas and New Year 2009)

‘Lovely relaxing weekend. Beautiful scenery and cottage. Night sky fantastic, especially for shooting stars.’ — Phil and Sharron & co. Staffordshire (December 2009)

‘Great holiday had by all. Lovely setting, great for kids and dogs. Enjoyed Cream o' Galloway, Ravenstone Deli, Glentrool walks (even if we did get a bit lost and had to be rescued by a farmer on a quad bike), Kirkcudbright wildlife park and great local walks. Bladnoch Inn great for families with kids. Thanks very much for the welcome pack and hospitality.’ — The Palmers and Crowders, Newcastle (October 2009)

'We didn't see you before we left on the 17th so were unable to say how much we enjoyed our stay. The cottage was wonderful, lovely linen on the beds and the kitchen equipment and china very nice, having used self catering a lot, we had decided that why self cater if the accommodation and furniture is worse than where you live, and this was to a high standard. I felt proud to have used the Rayburn, although I did come out of the kitchen looking like I had been in a sauna!! It was also so peaceful and luckily the weather meant we could sit out a lot and enjoy the views of your lovely garden and the wildlife and not so wild life, ducks. So many thanks for a lovely stay.' — Jayne and Steve (10 - 17 June 2006)

This is what our 2006 New Year guests had to say:

We were able to provide them with rare breed lamb, beef and pork as well as locally smoked salmon for their celebrations. They were able to see the New Year in at The Harbour Inn, about 20 minutes walk away. And they enjoyed some wonderful scenery and crisp walks in the Galloway Hills.

'Just what we needed, a wonderfully peaceful retreat. Thank you for your kindness and help, we felt very much at home. Lovely surroundings, which I hope to explore again some day. Happy New Year to you both.' — Jean Hindle, friends and family, Suffolk (28/12/05–04/01/06)

'What a super place with stunning surroundings. The cottage is very cosy, comfortable and peaceful. We love the pig, ducks and chickens along with the beautiful beach and gardens. Thank you for helping us with all our needs!! We've had a great time.' — Zoe and Phil Martin, Suffolk (28/12/05–04/01/06)

'Spent a fantastic week relaxing and exploring the beautiful and tranquil surroundings. Lovely cosy cottage.' — James and Helen, Doncaster (29/12/05–04/01/06)
